Our Honeymoon

Another post from the past. For the past.

A few days after the wedding, we loaded our awesome new luggage into a car hired by our amazing bridal party and headed down to New York City to catch the Carnival Cruise we'd booked for our honeymoon. I have to admit, I was both excited and nervous. It'd been a long time since I'd taken that much time off for a vacation - eight days to be exact - but it was also because, in the five years that Matt and I have been together, we'd never spent that many days together. Just, together.

But it was wonderful. So wonderful that when we got back to our incredibly busy lives, I immediately missed him. I still miss him. I miss him right now and it's the only reason I'm considering going to his football game this Saturday afternoon. I mean, I could just spend the entire day in my pajamas. Which is very, very tempting.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We took a walking tour through San Juan, stopping at several bars along the way to learn how to make some of San Juan's signature drinks. Our mixology class was followed by a salsa dance class. I love to dance, but Matt does not. (Luckily, he loves booze.) But he put his all into it and we had a wonderful time. Afterwards, we walked around the city, enjoying the vibrant colors and life of San Juan.

St. Thomas

Again, we did a thing I love very much that Matt really doesn't care for at all, but instead of dancing, we kayaked. The excursion was a kayak, hike and snorkeling tour through a mangrove nature preserve. It was absolutely gorgeous, though a lot of the prior guest feedback said that the entire day was strenuous, and so I dressed and packed accordingly. I wish that I'd brought my water shoes instead!

Grand Turk

After two busy excursions, we decided to kick back and relax in Grand Turk. We took the "Home Away from Home" excursion which took us to a house on the beach where we (and about 20 others) had a private bar, private cook, and private beach. It was incredibly relaxing.

Other than our excursions, we spent our days receiving room service in the morning and eating it on our balcony, reading by the pool, eating incredibly rich food for dinner, and drinking copious amounts of alcohol. Wait. Can I go back?
